Ranger Needs an Upgrade!

Its been over a year since I bought my 93 ranger. We've had our ups and downs but I'm ready to invest some money into her.
I'm new to the forum, just hoping to get some incite on a new audio system.
I've got a extended cab ranger. Originally I wanted a sub between the seats but now that seems impractical because I do want some good bass that only a 12" er will do!
Couple things. I'm buying 4 speakers, sub, amp, and maybe tweeters? Would one have every speaker and sub connected to the amp? Or can I get away with having the amp just for the sub? And do certain brand speakers/subs go well with each other? Should stick to the same generic brand? I'm not looking to be deaf by the time I'm 40, but I want a good kick. My budget is flexible, 500-700. Trying to keep it low because I have other plans for my baby. I know it's a lot of questions but a few replies would be greatly appreciated, I will be able to figure it out from then on. And maybe post some pics.

Another thing, I live in Canada, West coast. I'm dreding going to best buy for parts as I know there are probably better places (and I despise best buy) Where is a good place to buy from online/ or actual store. ( I don't really want to buy from us)
Thanks!

Welcome! You will want a mono amp just for the sub, a decent deck with sub control and if its still in budget a 4 channel amp for your speakers, ill check out craigslist for you and post up some links tomorow

Where abouts in vancouver are you? Jeff at audio motion in poco will be able to guide you in the right direction, he deals in high end car audio but has a bunch of quality used stuff for good prices

thanks for the tips. i live in burnaby so its a bit of a drive but ill check it out next week. I picked up a free 10 year old Rockford fosgate 6-channel amp. It's only 370 watt I believe but theres no harm in amping a couple extra speakers:) links would be appreciated if ya got time!
