Sealed or ported?......Amps?

Well i have a general concept of how everything goes together in a system i jsut dont really know the details. Such as what at the differences in having a sealed or ported sub box, do you have to tune an amp? (some one said you didnt but i kinda think they were jerking my chain so i guess it doesnt hurt to ask.) if im going to run a sub what kinda of head unit should i be looking for as well as an amp ? Cause my main goal with my system is for it to sound good when played soft, and to sound good when played loud enough for the car next to me to hear. And i'd rather feel my sub hit then hear it.......any help or useful information will be greatly appreciated:biglaugh:

i had 2 jbl 10's with a 300watt amp in my old 93 ext cab ranger the 10's was in a bandpass box it took up the whole back of the cab with the box, and i just went to walmart and bought some mtx 6x9 and i also had 2 tweeters hooked up to just the cd player and i could get the rear veiw mirror in the truck to fall off with that set up, and people could hear me coming i only spent about 700 on it altogether, if i didnt listen to country music all the time i would buy that system again

How much is your budget? Depends on what kind of sub or subs you get on witch kind of box you should run. Also how much space do you want to loose, sealed are generally smaller and ported are bigger. I myself I like ported boxes but they have to be well designed not that crappy ported box that you can buy at bestbuy.

well if i could make it good under 8 or 900 i'd be happy lol

also i want to put my sub or subs under the jumps seats or build a box to go inbetween them

there was a thread on here about putting subs inside of the rear doors, it was kinda neat, could be an option for you if you have a 4 door or time to do it...

subs

A ported box will be tuned to be most efficient at a certain freqency, and can be very loud. For sound quality, a sealed box is prefered to produce quality sound through a larger range, but requires more power... IN GENERAL.
You like rap go ported, you like real music, go sealed. Invesigate volume requirement for the enclosure, some speakers are designed to use in small enclosures. Very important to get the most efficiency from any speaker.

I used my stock stereo and got 2 12 inch Audio bans, 1,000 Watt Crunch and some sealed boxes for $280. It included all the hardware as well.

It sounded pretty dang good.

The audio guy said always go sealed as you will get a lot better quality out of it
