Seeking Advice.

Ok i've had two 12 inch Rockford Fosgate Punch Z's that are 8 ohm and 100rms 200 max.

I need help with finding an amp and should i use both of them or just one? There is a huge convention downtown this weeked and they usally have tons of audio stuff. I've seen a 13 inch W7 go for 300 NIB down there. So should I buy an amp to power both of them or say f*ck it and only use one? Another question I have is if I use both they will be wired in series (I think that what it's called) where they will be on only one channel, so if I do this will it be like 200rms and 400 max?

bridging them to the amplifier you mean. it hits alot harder on my system having the subs bridged to the amp instead of them each having there own channel. ah go all out use both the 12's im only using 2 10" with 2 1000watt amps and thats loud enough for me..i bet if u got a good 800 watt amp you wouldnt hurt them 12's..and still sound good.

basically it just depends on your budget, and how much Cab space you are willing to sacrafice. I only have one of my two 12" RF's hooked up cuz my amp isn't powerful enough to make the two hit hard so I just bridged one and I'm pretty satisfied ( for the amount of money I have tied up)

Go to the audio fair and look for whatever... then decide how to run your system.

If they only need 100 watts rms each, thats very easy to find an amp that will do both of them @ 4 ohms. Personally, if you can get a good deal, i'd buy a better sub at that convention if you can get such a good deal.

Yeah but then I would have to sell my subs and my bandpass box which cost more than the two 12's lol.

OK and can i buy a 400 watt mono amp to power those two subs? I know i can always buy a 200 watt for just one.

Yea just don't turn it all the way up, id actually recommend the higher powered amp over the lower, because an amp working at 50 percent isn't going to clip or have problems. What brands were you looking at?

Run them on 2 seperate channels. Series is alright until you turn it up. Might be fine with a little Kicker Kx200.2

all this maxx power talk is making me go crazy...

each sub is 100rms 8 ohms if ur gonna use both take the pos wire from 1 wire it to the pos on the other sub then to the pos on the amp same with neg (but run it to neg on the amp) this will give you a final 4ohm load, so to be safe get a amp that does 200x1 bridged@4ohms or a mono amp that does 200@4ohms

or get a 2ch that does around 150-200x2@4ohms this will be around 100@8ohms for each channel

This is all RMS, Peak is worth about as much as this can of spam

No point in getting a two channel, unless you do happen to find a good deal on 200x2 RMS amp. More likely to get the mono channel 200 watt @ 4 ohm amp Kyle suggests.

Examples:
Cheap or Quality

so your saying I should get a 200 rms amp and wire them daisy chain style? I would have the 4 ohm load. But if I want to do a single sub (which is looking like it will happen) I should get a 100 rms amp? And as far as brands I dont know what I will since I dont know what they will have.

just remember if you are only going to use just one of the subs then you are going to need a amp that produces 100 watts @8 ohms which is going to very difficult. if it was me i would try to sell them and get one svc 4omh sub and a nice 4ohm class d mono amp.

Brandon, wire them up like this: Parallel Wiring

http://www.caraudiohelp.com/ohms_law/ohms_law.htm

With two 8 ohm subs wired in parallel, your amplifier will "see" a 4 ohm load, which is more or less the standard in car audio. Since your subs are 100 watt RMS each, that's why you want an amp that delivers 200 watt RMS @ 4 ohms.

its not difficult, all amps are 8ohm stable, just needs to be a bigger amp to get power at 8ohms

not to be mean but dont go spending too much money on an amp because those arnt the most demanding subs, i could power them with my door speaker amp
i only paid 70$ for it form sound domain(who i highly reccommend)

Yeah i won those subs and they are very loud in the bandpass box, but like I said the deal they had going on 4 years ago when I bought them was two 12's for $100. The box cost around $180. I'm pleased with the subs already, since I wasn't using them I threw them in my house on top of my weak audio sytem to fill out the lows. If all else fails and I can't find a good amp I will be on the lookout for some Pioneer 4/3 ways or some Apline Type S 6x8's.

Thanks everyone for your help. I needed it, and you gave it. Thanks.

Well I went to the sale thing and It was the biggest waste of time and money ever!!!

The only names I heard of was Volfenhag (?), Pioneer, Rockford Fosgate, and
Audiobahn

Everything was not ebay cheap so i said f*ck it. $100 for an entry model RF Punch? ebay price is lower than that. Audiobahn 8 inch flip down dvd player $600 Our local circut city's is $700 which covers a install and coverage. B.S. I was so pissed so instead im buying something off of ebay. Either an amp or door speakers.
