The pioneers hit pretty hard, I would go with 10's if possible however and some good infinity kappa speakers with componet mounts in the doors and possibly elsewhere for imaging. use a pioneer 60watt head unit and you should be fine.

If you want to thow down some cash and dont care about looks but want the best, use human speakers and forget the subs. www.humanspeakers.com

I have heard that shallow mount subs start clipping way before conventional subs do. I don't know if that is true.

you dont really need shallow mount. i mean all power to ya if you really want to but if you can fit them id go with regular sized subs. mount a pair of 10's where the jumpseats go. **** u got regular. ummmmm yea im not sure then......... u shudddddd be able to fit 10s behind ur seats like at a 45degree angled upwards. my friend did this ill have to check.........

I have a shallow mount 10" Kicker in my Chevy, and it sounds good.

As far as if they last as long as other reg subs & stuff like that I dont know I really only drive the Chevy for car shows, etc. so it doesnt get used that much.

I've seen (and installed) lots of reg cab rangers & s-10's with 4 regular depth 10" subs behind the seat.
It depends on the subs you choose. If you were to use a $500 competition sub, you'd probably need 12" or more of mounting depth. On the other hand, if you used something like a RF, MTX, Pioneer, etc. mid price range sub, you may only need 5" to 6" of mounting depth.
If you can find conventional subs that have a mounting depth that's shallow enough, you're good to go & they'll probably be cheaper than the shallow subs too.

You might want to take a look over @ crutchfield & compare mounting depths & box volume requirements before making up your mind.

Hope this helps

I had a jl audio 13tw5 shallow mount mated to a jl 500/1 in my 04 ranger. it was actually too much bass for me. pulled enough juice that the stock alternator couldn't handle it.

hmmm i run a shallow mount 12 inch rockford.. it hits nicely. not overpowering for rock at all and keeps pretty well inline. Kappa speakers upfront and in rear, i need a new amp for em but they are clear as can be.

Look into rockfords shallow mount P3S

i have installed many of them. they sound ok. i have done the pioneers, elemtental designs, and kicker. kicker had the best output. their is pros and cons to them. they tend to overextend alot and **** up alot.
