Just Bought a Kenwood DDX419.. Whats needed for the install?

Vehicle is 2009 Sport 4x4

I've already ordered:
the tool to remove the stock head unit
Wiring Harness

Is it essential to buy a receiver kit?
I've read up on past double din installs from the site but most were done on older head units so I'm not sure if sizes have changed or not.

Anyhow, if a kit is required which is the better option?

You'll need the kit to mount and to fill the gaps on the sides of the unit. The radio hole stock is a bit wider than standard double din and a bit shorter so you'll need to dremel the top and bottom edges.

The bezel is the same so the older installs you saw are the same as yours. I put a pic up somewhere. I'll take a look and post it if I find it.

Any standard double din will require you trim the dash but I wouldn't worry about it. The amount you take off is small, and is invisible even if you put the stock radio back in.

The edge you remove is on the top and bottom of the radio hole in the bezel to permit standard double din to fit in height.

The edges in the red box top and bottom are removed

I can't find the name for the mounting kit I bought but I picked it up at future shop and the fit is perfect looks stock and the deck sits nicely in the bezel without sticking out.

beautiful thanks guys.
I knew I'd be doing some trimming but wasn't sure if I would have been able to slide in the unit as is after. I'm assuming the aftermarket mounting kit is a little more slime than what came with the unit.

The aftermarket kit is thinner top and bottom to allow the unit to fit and wider on the sides to fill the gaps as our bezel is shorter and wider than the standard double din.
