Some "low end" opinions please....

I'm looking at getting http://www.supercrewsound.com/shop/detail/11/80.htm that box.

Just wondering some opinions on the sub I should get

Mounting depth is 9.25"

I was thinking type r again, b/c I'm happy with performance and the price. I am just going to run an orion 1200d...but I'm unsure if it will fit.

Also, I'm unsure if I want to do a 10 or a 12...I'm leaning towards the 12 a lot.

I'm looking for major SQ, nothing loud at all. So if anyone has any experience with this box or a similar LMK...

Brands I'm liking:

memphis
re audio (probably re 12" sx) I'll just buy used from ca.com
alpine (i like the ones i have now, but sealed i'm not that big of a fan)
adire
treo ssi's (love em)
edit: I also like polk audio too...

rolla_guy72 Aug 20, 2006 08:55 AM

good luck at finding an Adire, they halted production on the Brahma's...

A pair of the Infinity Kappa Perfect 12.1s will handle 1500 watts... my friend corey had them in his civic, and the boxes weren't secured becuase we built them overnight and they would jump around during the sweeps in "Kalifornia" on the The Crystal Method Community Service 2 CD...

I never really got to "listen" to them, cuase they were in his car but they sounded pretty clean even though they weren't broken in yet.

check out stereo integrity, they make a pretty mean sub.

problem with these brands is like Adire and TCAB. what happens when they start to screw ppl over with warranties and prepaid orders. SI=good stuff, but where will they be in the long run? pm'd BTW

I like Dayton audio....Inexpensive subs. www.partsexpress.com

rolla_guy72 Aug 20, 2006 01:57 PM

I've got some dayton speakers and peerless tweeters awaiting an enclosure...

Yea, I'm leaning towards polks...it won't be for a little while though

BTW anyone know where to find the tabs for the back panel...i kinda ripped up my old ones, i threw em all away!

Maybe ford?

ouch, thats not good.

I like the polks, but I probably won't have subs again for a long time...I got other plans (it has a y, z, and f in it and the numbers 450 :shocked1: )

quest51210 Aug 21, 2006 02:53 AM

look for the "HELP" section at your local autozone or pepboys for those tabs

RudemAn85 Aug 21, 2006 05:56 AM

MB quart is still manufactured in germany=no loss in quality=maxxsonics just owns them...

Already talked to about 5 different cust. reps on it, and some german engineer too...

Awesome, thank you very much!!!

So whats the final verdict that you reccomend?

I'm liking the polks and mb quartz (what rudeman said about maxxonics is right on...or so I heard)

quest51210 Aug 21, 2006 06:13 PM

well i am the one that had the 4-mb quart 10's in my truck and they left alot to gain. they were clean but not as clean as lets say an Image Dynamics. it was not high output either it lacked what a type r would produce and definitly lacked waht a DD, SS, SI, or anyother "high end" sub offers out there. like i said in the pm let me know what ya wanna do.

I have 2 MBQuart Reference 12's, and the SQ on them is amazing. They play tones from 15htz + (which they ARE rated at and they don't lie!). I played a BassMechanik cd the other day in mine and RudemAn85's truck to compare (he has a 12" RE SX, sealed enclosure), I have the 2 MB 12's, sealed enclosure, and his SX didn't even produce any audible sounds until about 25htz. The SX sounds great playing regular songs, but I absolutely love my MB subs, he even said they have a superb SQ to them as compared to his SX.
I am running my subs with a SoundStream amp at 800rms @ 4ohms to the subs and it definately overpowers them with flying colors. The subs get loud too for the size and power rating of them.
Both me and RudemAn85 have our truck cabs TOTALLY sound deadened, which also helps out 500% with the sound.

Quest15210 - your 4 10's were probably the Discus model, I haven't heard any other MB subs but mine are great, especially for the low power they are!

RudemAn85 Aug 22, 2006 05:55 AM

^^^^^ AGREED.

Yeah, I think I need to seal those couple holes in my box...

jrpro130 Aug 22, 2006 08:29 AM

Yea, I deadened my truck the 3rd day I put my new system in...otherwise it was like a sardine can...it's nice now though :)
