I have the Pioneer Tremor Audio package with the sub that came from Ford... does anyone know if there is a spot for an iPod behind the deck? Like AV jacks or something along those lines?

All Pioneer radios usually have what is called an IP-BUS connection on the back of the unit. Mine has it. If you do an ebay search you can find an ip-bus to 3.5mm jack for about $15.

That sucks. Well never mind then. The one thing I recommend though, is to buy a nice little FM transmitter from walmart. I have a belkin one and it works like a charm.

 

Yeah it kind of blows, I wish they did. I like the look of the stock units so much better than the single din aftermarket ones. But I can't complain, I love my double din touchscreen lol.

 

Yea that really sucks... I love the way my stock deck looks... and it looks fancy enough to have something for an iPod but I guess not... the only thing I have against FM transmitters is the sound quality... is the Belkin one a good crisp sound with highs and lows?
And how much did it set u back?

 

Don't get an FM, get the Cassette one. My roomate just got a Belkin FM for his Audi A6 and it sucks. So bad in sound quality.

 

And as for the casseete quality? I had one once I think and didnt really care for it ... but that was a while back when they first came out

 

FM transmitters are great when you're not in a city. I loved mine in eastern WA but preferred the cassette when I was in Seattle 'cause of all the stations you can't get a clear transmission.... just do what I did... buy a new Ranger w/ the AUX input just for the stereo... lol

 

There is another better option, FM interupt. It is a small box that you put under your dash you plug it into the back of the radio in the antena input and then plug you antena into the box. You have to run a ground and 12volt line to a keyed Power source. You know have four RCA inputs from there all you need is 3.5MM to RCA inputs.

Put this in perspective I paid 50 for my I-river FM transmitter that hissed and would get interferance even on dead chanels. This Cost 40 from Best Buy and kills both stations that it is set to, best yet if you dont want to install they will. All in all It took about an hour which included me tearing apart my computer stuff to find the RCA cable. I love this thing and would highly recomend it to anybody.

 

I'm assuming that's something you can enable/disable... I once read someone bragging about taking their antenna off to make the FM transmitter stronger ... the sad thing is, in Seattle, signal is so strong I've listened to stations without an antenna...

 

Well it automatic, Like when I turn my MP3 player off its shuts off, When I turn it on and its recieving transmition it kicks in and kills 89.1 on my FM and plays what the MP3 player is playing.

You could Theorheticly have a inline switch on the hot 12V lead but theres really no reason. Now there is one that Quadratech sells for 70.00 thats a lil better kit that does have a manual kill switch but I hate mail ordering I would rather pay more and have it then and not ship stuff, so I got this one from Best Buy but any Audio place should sell them.

 

If someone is more familiar with the wiring of the newer Rangers with the 3.5mm aux in, I may be willing to pull mine out if someone wants it. I just don't know where the wires go to and what radios it will work with. If no one knows, well we can all learn if I pull mine out! Just let me know and we'll go from there.

 

I'd love to know how this is setup. I have an 04 ranger and want to add an input jack for my ipod but I want it to look factory. I'd love to get the factory parts to convert to the new setup.

Well I opened up my dash to see how the aux in gets to the radio. It looks like it runs to the same wire bundle that the Sirius unit uses. I tried to taking out the sirius unit out, but the top 10mm nut is in a really tight spot. I wasn't able to get a ratchet on it and for some reason I don't have a 10mm wrench, go figure. If there is someone that wants to try the aux in delete mod that has more tools than I do and is within an hour or so of Dayton, OH let me know! I would love to remove the factory sirius tuner and replace it with one for my head unit.

 

I'm looking into one at best buy, but I'm wondering what you tapped the power into. I was gunna run it to my 12v outlet but it doesnt turn off with my ignition.
