stereo whine
here's a question, Does anyone know what causes a whinning sound to come out my speakers when the engine is running? The sound actually increases and decreases with the RPM's....The system is fairly new, Pioneer with a Jensen amp(i know, that's half the problem) I have heard this once before but it was in a friends car and never gave it any thought. Now that it's my turn, it's driving me nuts! I assume it has something to do with the grounding...but don't really know. any help?

alternator whine is what your problem is.............

Bad grounds usually, or your power lines and RCA cables are too close or in parallel to eachother. Try moving your cables or crossing them at a 90* angle. You could also get better RCA cables with better twisted wires in them.

alternator whine. first check the ground on that amp... that's more than likely your problem. if it's grounded just fine, move onto your signal and power wires that are run to the amp as well.
EDIT: just realized i basically just restated what the other two already said... oh well, lol. :dunce: |
okay thanks, that gives me a place to start....

a GOOD set of twisted RCA cables could also cure this problem........when i say good set i mean a Rockford Fosgate or Stinger Audio product

okay will check the grounds, thanks!

im late butt o well. Id do the ground first, than Rca's, before looking at the alt

ive got the same problem..ive tried everything and i still get the noise..i put in a ground loup isolator after $$$$ wires and re routing everything and new grounds..cost me 10$ for one and it fixed it right away..

cheap rcas, bad ground, or running them to close which has been s tated.

I just had the wine with the new radio I installed this weekend. The terk xm unit would cause it whenever it was hooked up. This morning i found the case of the unit was rubbing the rca jacks. A little tape and problem solved.

My bro had the same problem. So we ran his RCA away from the power and ground. And that fixed it.
