Sub help

Ok i have been thinkin for a while about putting a 10'' sub in my truck i don't want to spend much on it but i will also need an amp. What are your opinions on what i should get? i don't need something that hits really hard just something to give a little more bump.

Do you have a std cab or extended cab? The answer to that is going to limit what you can do.

I would hit up craigslist for a deal on an amp/sub box combo. You can get some deals there. I'd probably go with a 12in sub and like 500watts(???). Some one will chime in here with some good numbers.

Do you have a stock head unit?? Because you'll get a better sound with an aftermarket with the proper hook ups for a sub.

Alright then, you are set up for a good system. I know my brother has a 1000watt 12inch sub and it is absolutely ear deafening. I can't stand it in there with it turned up, i need the volume waaaaay down to avoid an ear ache.

But yeah, hit up craigslist for deals. Or you can just buy all new and that is fine. I like the MTX subs but its a preference. Someone will chime in and give more of an 'expert' answer. I just have a thunderform, which is a 10in 250watt in a std cab. It does me good.

Can't forget wiring too! That can be another like 100bucks for good quality. You'll want a 12 for an extended cab. Don't go for less. At least 12inch wiht 500watts you'll be fine.

Well. you figure if you are going to upgrade, you'd want the best RCA cables you can get, then a wiring kit for an amp. It adds up. IDK, maybe prices changed when i did mine like 2yrs ago. But wires are spendy....

no.

i've had both, and the bass seemed much cleaner with a sealed box. i wouldnt go with anything different now.

i had two twelves in a ported box before, then moved up to 1 12" in a sealed box, and wow big difference.
