Need some Double Din Help...

There's a local guy sellin a Pioneer avh-p4000dvd for $300. It comes with the ipod cable and video bypass. From what he says its in good condition. Just wondering if this is a good deal. Is there another Double Din I could get for around that price that's better? Thanks in advance!

Sounds like it's a decent deal for an older model. If you dig around, I think you may be able to find a 1 or 2 year old model for a similar price. I'd probably hold out and pick up a model with Navi.

Are you set on the DVD functionality?

I've got the Pioneer AVIC-F700BT in mine and love it with the navi. Bluetooth through the speakers is also very handy. Use it daily.

I bought mine used as well and traded it for my X Box 360 arcade and $150 cash so there are deals to be had.

Yeah I have the Pioneer AVIC-F90BT with navi and DVD playback and love it as well. I'm not really impressed with the Navi, it could be much much better. IMO you'd be better off getting that unit and getting a cheap Tom Tom.

+1 for an AVIC.

They're the iPhone of the In-Dash world, sure there are better units, and it does fall short in a few catigories, but you can mod them like crazy, if you're into that/know what you're doing you can make them pretty friggin' cool!

None of the Pioneers can do that if i remember correctly. You can put in a boot screen but no background.

Yea on my "splash screen" it's an old picture of the truck. What I'm getting at is that you can upload any picture you want. But you only see it while the unit's booting up. After that it goes away.

I am sure there are other brands that let you select a background picture. My old Kenwood DDX6019 could not but I seem to remember the 7019 and 8019 could.
I have a new DD (old one stolen) stayed with Kenwood because of the add ons and versatility, New head unit is the DDX714 w/ Bluetooth. This allows me to use the add on Kenwood NAG-G510 NAV I all ready have. New unit lets me set background pictures, screen and button color. i-pod and usb let you add album art with music, decent graphic equalizer, speaker type selection and more I am finding everyday, sound quality is excellent although the bluetooth add on I had with the old unit sound quality is better I am still playing with the adjustments to see if it can be improved.
It is a good unit and looks stock in the dash, total price new was 620.00 I remember seeing re-furbs. for right around 400-450 on line. (No picture stole camera too)

Yeah the Kenwoods and Pioneers are the two best out right now. I've heard a lot of great things about the Kenwoods, I just prefer the Pioneer interface.
