Too much power?

Hi, I am new at all this car audio stuff and I just bought a 10" sony xplod sub and a 760watt pioneer amp. The reason I got such a big amp for the single 10" sub is because I might add another sub in the future and I want the extra power there (It is a two channel so I don't know if I can do that?) The sub has an RMS of 300 watts and the amp has (I believe) an RMS of 380 because I will be bridging the two channels. My question is, is it ok to go 80 watts over to power the sub?

Yes, you'll be fine.

I have my doubts your amp will put out that much power anyway. I don't remember Sony amps to be CEA compliant, and if they're not then it's anybody's guess as to how much power it really pushes. Max power ratings are pointless in my opinion.

Don't worry about it. A lot of people give their subs a little more power than their rated for. Set your gains where you don't clip the sub, and enjoy it!
