whats wrong with the profile amp? i have always recommended them for budget systems. they are pretty solid and put out their RMS rated power. dont know why you would get rid of the profile for a Kicker 400.1? makes no sense.

BTW the dollar a watt theory was pre-ebay and online sales and also before technology was more advanced. that ideology is very old. i mean i used to sell Soundstream 6500XXX amps that on a nice 14.4 volt system put out 3.5-4K Watts RMS at .5, we didnt sell them for $4K though. they sell for $1400 in store. that logic is very old and you are being suckered into buying something you dont need.

i have bench tested many Profiles that put out rated rms power or up to 100watts over on the mono amps. you are selling yourself short. profiles have shown they are decent little amps, heck crutchfield offers a 3yr warranty on them for free of charge!

Don't mean to hijack the thread....
have you had the chance to test the profile amps running bridged mono?
If the ap1200 can really output 600w mono, I may have to drop the cash for one of theses "cheap" amps. My 15" sub is rated 500w RMS & 750w max. but I'm only pushing it with about 200w right now. I know it has LOTS more potential.

I didn't say there was anything wrong with the profile amp, its just that it feels like its putting out the same power that my lightning audio amp, and I dont want to spend a 100 bucks to be in the same place I was to begin with. Not only that, but the thing didn't make the sub hit much until you cranked it up to the max level that id ever listen to it at, and thats after I had adjusted the gain and all. My lightning audio would hit just as hard at lower levels, and it had a lower rms rating.

Looks like one option for a sub is the 10" Tc-1000

They're a little on the spendy side, but JL's Slash series a fully regulated. It doesn't matter what ohm load (1.5-4) you run or what voltage (11-14.5) it gets. It puts out full power.

As far as subs. These are pretty impressive. http://mobile.jlaudio.com/products_s...p?series_id=16 They max out at 300 watts though. But sound awesome! You might be able to run two of 'em. Depending on the box.
