which way should i face it??????

Kicker 12" L5

I just bought this sub and am going to be pushing it with a 600watt RMS amp (maybe sony or maybe a Kicker). which ways should i face it in the rear of my extended cab ranger? i am going to build a custom box for it. would it sound better with the magnet facing the back of the cab or the back of my seat or the magnet facing the floor of the cab or the magnet facing the roof of the cab?

any help is greatful

if anyone has a pic of one of these in their truck in a custom built box can you post pics?

First off dont get a Sony Amp! I know my friends have bought a few and have had nothing but problems. (Although the speaker amp was okay.)

Its a good call behind going towards to the floor or facing towards you. Either of them should be fine, just find out how much your sub flex's, if box facing towards ground it might damage the cone or not allow it to flex as much as i can be.

i have heard many of bad things about sony amps but i have had 2 and had not a problem out of either of them. the main reason i am looking at a sony amp is because i already have 1 sony amp that i want to use and i wanted the system to look the same. i dont like mixing amp brands

now i've seen it the opposite way as well. I've seen a sony ported 10" pound like a mother with a differnt brand amp. This WAS some time ago for my friend (3 years) and it had to do with problems with the fuses shorting out. Then it has to be taken back to factory to be re-done.

Go planet Audio for amp :D well worth the money.

have you thought about facing upwards? i ahve 2 10" pgs with 2-1000watt clarion amps and they make alot of noise, enough to make me not wanna sit in the truck hahan and there both faced upwards..i tried both back and forwards and had nothign but rattling..up was the cleanest sound yet..check my cardomain for pics.!

this is a single 12" sub firing foward pound's pretty hard don't go with a sony amp

I'd say go with downfiring

Imo for the best sound your sub should face upwards or forward.
Amps, like like everything else is a matter of preference. Sony hasn"t survived in the car audio world by manfacturing junk.

well...IMO... sony amps are extremly crappy. i used to own 2 audiobahn 12's, and an 800 watt sony xplod mono amp. i could hardly even hear the subs. literally. it was extremely quiet even with the dials tuned. it was ridiculous. i sold it and found a few months later that the amp fried on somebody that was just using to get a little bass. he wasnt even cranking up his music. but anyways... i face my sub towards the front of my cab. good SPL that way.

They've survived by making it cheap... I'm not a big fan of Sony personally. The best thing I've ever owned of theirs is a CD walkman. I'd say go with a Rockford amp or a Kenwood and face the sub upwards.

i ordered an Audiobahn 8000T amp. it is 800 watts RMS at 2 ohms which the sub will carry on the amp. the L5 is rated at 600 watts RMS so ill have to turn the amp down a little. my brother has the audiobahn 8002T and it is a great amp. it is rated at 300x2 and does everybit of it.

should be ok. Congrads on the purchase! But I like The Rockford! Awsome amp!
