Already have a sub with box but its not quite ideal for me. Bux is way big for a truck. Its a MTX 12" sub in a run of the mill box. It puts out decent bass but I feel I could have better base if I were to switch my setup around a little change... I would also like to be able to recline my seat again..
I cant afford deadener right this moment,

I've done the peel and seal on my last ranger, its not nearly as effective as a rubber based deadner like Dynamat, SDS tiles, or Second Skin. you only need a small quantity of the rubber type deadner to have a better effect then the asphalt stuff.
As for cleaning up the bass, settings and the box are two things that will do this.
the actual sub is not the issue. Pull the specs on the MTX and see what box size and type they recommend, then figure out if your box meets the requirements.
There are cheap fixes for under or oversized sealed boxes, ported boxes are usually a bit more difficult to fix but sometimes you can remedy them with certain settings.
If you can fix the dirty bass issue without buying new equipment, you will have plenty of money for sound deadner. Of course getting new equipment is always fun but its likely the box or settings that are giving you the issues.

I would try a proper sized sealed box. so you can save some room.

these are on sale. if its not the right size you can either add polyfil or a block of wood to get the right size.
I would do this before going for the small sealed 10". you probably wont be real happy with the decreased output that that would bring.
An undersized ported box is really tough to fix but poly-fill might help you out some. if you have an old pillow or something you could try that just to see.
