Thinking of getting a new headunit?

Hey everyone, I went to Best Buy today & looked at a few new headunit & they had this one Alpine that stood out of the crowd & I fell in love. But can anyone tell me if this is nice or not & any more info. on it?

http://www.crutchfield.com/S-55r552t...0&I=500CDA9853

I don't think that link is working, but it is the Alpine CDA-9853...

no, dont get that one

the display is the 2nd choice pick, theres the organic EL display that's much nicer

also, if u'll remember in a previous post i made, the Alpine's this year have been crap...wait untill next year or find a little older model alpine...the motors on the flip open screens continuously break...

alpine WILL fix this in the next model year...

But it will have a 1 year warranty though... So they should fix it.

i got the type s subs, 2 10"ers

they affordable and GREAT, u can "upgrade" to type r, but it wont hit as many notes as s...then theres the sledghammer type X, highly expenisive, but worth it

true , u may have a warranty, but what happens when u continuously have to keep shipping it off? and what about after the one year?

I agree, get last years model, I loved my Alpine and may get another one soon. I had a 10" Type R and it didn't hit hard enough for me, my Kicker CVR out pounds it.

Ok, but where would I find a last years model at?

Also what about door speakers?

Is this the "Type S" sub? Is that a decent price for it?

(4) Alpine 5x7's... http://cgi.ebay.com/ALPINE-SPS-571A-...QQcmdZViewItem

I am still in need of an amp & headunit, so if anyone can give me some help on an amp, that would be AWESOME!

take a look at this its what i got and it pounds hard! http://cgi.ebay.com/Brand-New-KICKER...QQcmdZViewItem 1500w peak power! thats crazy and for a low price. Also a square sub has more surface area wich allows a 10 in sub to hit like a 11 in sub would. just a suggestion.

i wouldnt suggest 3 its really loud in my truck with one for 2 the amp choice is really up to on how much u are willing to spend. Either go with a huge amp 2800 watts or so or 2 1000-1200 watt amps its really up to you. I would go with 2 of these personally though http://cgi.ebay.com/05-KENWOOD-1000w...QQcmdZViewItem

If your getting any kicker L-series I would suggest that you only put the rated RMS pwer on ONE in a small vehicle like a ranger. I know people who have shattered several windsheilds and even cracked a metal hatch on an eclipse becuase of too much power.

Ok, I'll probably just get 2 then (amps & subs)...

As for rolla_guy72, what do you mean when you say 'If your getting any kicker L-series I would suggest that you only put the rated RMS pwer on ONE in a small vehicle like a ranger.'

I don't know what you're saying, cuz I don't really know anything about systems... lol

for an amp, if u want a GOOD one, u're gonna pay a dollar a watt

my type S's bump nicely to an MTX Thunder 202 amp....maybe step it up to a 282 amp

the mtx's can TAKE some abuse....

if you want loud subs with looks get the type X, loud subs without the good looks is the type R's, type S is the best for almost everything...

I really like panasonic. There hi end units are great. Lots of expandablity and they look sweet. The desplays are fully custimizibale (sorry i cant spell) i got some really nice pics of cars and stuff on mine and they also have moving images. YOu can make them too.
My friend has an apline headunit right know and is begging me to sell him mine. As for subs i run two 2004 model alpine 12"s at 2 ohm. 300 watts of rms a peice with matching mrd-300 amps. The really kick in a ranger. Plus they look good too. I am thinking about getting 2 more 2005 type r's or one 12" type x. Ebay is the place to find what you want.
