I would check out these subs http://www.quantumaudio.net/cozmik_subs.htm I have heard them and they sound really good....clean and clear but also go low.

im a pretty big fan of audiobahn, but i wouldn't trust any of their cheaper stuff. who ever said get some kicker L7 8's. i think that would be a pretty good route. and if you could get a custom build box for them, that would help alot too. my buddy used to have a little kicker 8", like the model below the cvr's in a little toyota 4x4 at proper RMS, and i was blown away. very impressed with those. and the solo barics are wayy better too.

Maybe that?
I'm happy with my pioneer slim sub. I have the 10", I think you can only get those in single 4 ohm so you'd need to get 2 of them for 500watts rms andthat would be about $200

nah, i'd like to have just one and run 2 ohms to have big bass.

i said about the l7s amd i stand by it, i paid $150 for my l7 10 used and its a 06 model and could have got 3 8s for $300...look into the l7 dont take much air and a 450 watt amp would really make it hit plus its got the surface area of a round 10
