Be courteous. Other people don't want to listen to your music. Don't force them to.
The thing is, that response makes me laugh. You pretty much just told me what people are thinking and it makes all the more funny. I like to impact people's lives. Whether its good or bad, I have just given those people a story to tell at dinner.

"Today at the stop light, there was this yellow truck that had the most annoying music......"

"Today at the stop light, there was this yellow truck that had the coolest sounding stereo......"

And if they dont talk about it, then it must have not have been that bad.

Anyways, I think its funny.

Pretty much summed it up in my first sentence.

I get enough annoying people at work. I am just repaying the favor.

I always enjoyed borrowing my brother's car and drowning out the rice rocket systems with classical. He had a Camaro with 4 15" subs getting a 2000 watt amp per and a 1200 watt x 4 for the components all around. I'd pull up next to some ricer with the standard Wal-Mart system listening to some crappy rap music and then all anyone within a couple hundred feet would hear is the 1812 Overture. I got more thumbs up from older people that way...

BTW the cannons in the 1812 Overture really hit hard

lol, classical music really makes heads turn!!!!

i got a red top optima for xmas, and finally got my lazy *** to install it last weekend. i pulled my truck into our shop like friday night, while all of my friends were there.

we have an entire bay in the shop that we kinda took over.. it's got couches, a fridge, microwave, 2 27" tvs (one for satellite and the other for ps2/n64/nes/etc..)..

anyway, lol.. 6 or 7 of my friends were sittin over in that area playing cards while i replaced my battery. took 2 seconds, etc.. because i disconnected everything, i wanted to get in and reset my headunit. i have a method to doing this when i dont have an Oscope (which is all the time, lol). i play a few tracks from every genre of music that i listen to, then some wierd stuff for some fine tuning. lol, my friends didnt mind when i have all of the normal stuff blasting.... but when it came time for the classical cd, lol, i got a lot of bad words and looks thrown my way, lol. i let the entire track of "the godfather's theme" play. i showed off my ability to play the air violin, lol.

i always turn down at lights...it's annoying for other people...i don't mind turning it down and it makes people a lot happier

now as for the ********* that tailgate/cut me off...well, they get "street sweeped" a common phrase i like to say when you put on a nice 32 hz sine wave (thats actually my loudest note) and just bang out either in front/back of them. That must be annoying because with my truck even 15ft away it's the same level of loudness as inside (maybe a tiny bit lower)

it will make your ears hurt if you are not used to it...

Be courteous. Other people don't want to listen to your music. Don't force them to.
There was a pair of ' teens ' here whom LIKED to roll down the street at 2am with their ' booms ' going. setting off alarms and such.

The gentleman across the street from me carries the name of ' David J. Palermo '. Hes off the boat from the land where spaghetti rules. He came out on his poarch in a bathrobe yelling something none of understood.

The kid came out the next day to go to school.. his car disappeared . Aint that sad?

The Neighborhood has been so nice and quiet since. Nobody saw anything either.

I have the factory cd/mp3 player in my truck with the factory protective sticker on it still.. I rarely ever use it. I think Competition audio and ' sound offs ' are a good thing, nothing liek seeing the effort of ones labor going up against anothers BUT, thats not my street at 2am, waking the working classed people up from a somber sleep.

I have a built motor and suspension, I don't tear up residential areas or where people are trying to watch T.V./enjoy a quiet evening at home. It only takes a few people to push mega-decibles and the police come out with their decimeters.

There was legislation slated in my states assembly ( dunno if it passed ) where anything over +90db would be grounds for confiscation under a pollution act, to which, the state could CRUSH the vehical as hazardous material. If requested , I'll look into it to see if it passed ( doesn't effect me as our local guy doesn't have booms going anymore ).

Some people have lift kits and go offroading.. but not on their neighbors front lawn. Food for thought.

True...very true.

But 90db...thats not that loud man...my factory speakers stock could pull that. IIRC, thats like a horn...so what, they would crush your truck if you honk your horn at someone??? Thats a violation of the pollution act?

I can understand 120db...thats getting up there for being loud. But come-on, a table saw is louder than that. And they are going to confiscate your table saw if you are working outside your house building a fence??? (thats actually not possible...your on private property)

Also they have sound ordinance laws. In my city it's before 8am and after dusk you can't make any noise that can be heard more than 25ft away. Thats pretty freaking strict. But 90db...I think thats an exxageration. Maybe 90db after dark and before light...maybe thats what you meant.

Also with traffic violations (I.E. playing music that can be heard more than 25 ft away) is not even a moving violation. It's a non-criminal, non-moving violation. And being heard more than 25ft away is more than 90db. And 25 ft...thats not very far. I don't understand how they could legally confiscate your vehicle. Thats like shooting a dog that pooped on your lawn...it's not that easy. There are steps...(i.e. first offence is a verbal warning, second written warning, third written citation, fourth confiscation)

I mean, maybe I'm misunderstanding what they are trying to pass, but I know the sound ordinace very well, and maybe you live by a whole bunch of tree huggers, I don't know, but I've argued the sound ordinance IN COURT plenty. And I won.

edit: police don't carry decimeters

I only play mine loud during the day. For some reason, it doesnt feel right to play it loud early in the morning or late at night near houses.

I dont play it loud early at all. (like 2 am to 10 am).

jrpro130,

The Sound Ordinence ( according to *local officials and a local cop-shop* I stopped by last night ) (( EDIT: Yes folks, D was at a cop shop voulentarily, without cuffs on! )) is 90db after 9pm. First offense is 500$ . Second offence is mandatory impound of vehical and fines. Theres one chance, then your tunes go bye-bye. Like it or not, its the law. 3rd hit.. your ride is gone. These are city Ordinances. The state has others as well.

I *like* my quiet neighborhood. Its peaceful. I enjoy having civil neighbors. We can hear each other.

I still wonder what happened to that Del-sol.. Never saw it again LOL. Maybe I'll dig out my scuba gear and check out the Lake.. I bet I could find it :)

yea, thats what i figured it was.

I misunderstood you, I thought it was 1st offence=gone. That is not right.

Hey, I think that law is great. I'm training to be a police officer right now and it gets us quite a few arrests. Its a good reason to initiate a traffic stop and conduct search. Nice P.C., I had a guy that was blaring his music that decided it was a good day to smoke out his car...well, he went to the "cop-shop" too...but with cuffs

You misunderstood...it's called profiling. On most occasions (especially the city I work in) most of the people that "blare" their bass are not your everyday blue collar folks. They tend to be the more "party hardy" kind of people. It gives a police officer a good reason to suspect something when there is loud music blaring riding "4 deep" in your caprice and they all look/act/talk like thugs. Thats called probable cause.

Basically, people that blare their music are not everyday blue collar people. They are usually (in my experience) drug dealers, dope heads, alcoholics, teens, and otherwise the people that cause problems.

Your not going to see the CEO of Microsoft blaring his music at 3am in the middle of an intersection...most likely.

Blaring music is an excellent way to initiate a traffic stop. Once you have someone "pulled over" you can then check for warrants, 28-29 (vehicle registration/tags), visually inspect to see if you can see anything "out of the ordinary"

And 7/10 times, that traffic stop leads to a citation other than "blaring music" FYI
