Will Sync Bluetooth only work with phones?
I have a 2019 Ranger with Sync, I've connected several phones, no problem pairing them.
Now I'm trying to pair an Aluratek BT transmitter so I can play CDs & cassettes over the truck's radio,
but the radio doesn't see the device at all.
The Aluratek ABT05F is a kind of dongle thing (from Bestbuy) that simply plugs into any audio/earphone jack and then transmits that audio over Bluetooth.
Thanks, Davebo

Welcome to the forum
How is the dongle powered?
Try pairing dongle to your phone to see if that works, to play music from device dongle is connected to
If so then should pair with SYNC

The dongle has an internal battery recharged via a USB connection.
I tried pairing with my phone just now, didn't work ??
The dongle (BT transmitter) does pair fine with a BT speaker.
Thanks, Davebo

Yes, there are quite a few posts out there with same conclusion, Sync won't work well with BT transmitters, even if it does connect
It needs the two-way communications that these units can't provide
Your phone probably also wants two-way, the BT Speaker doesn't, its only setup as one-way
Some have used FM transmitters, same type of wireless connection but on an unused(in your area) FM frequency, these have been around for 30 plus years, precursor to Bluetooth
Or
Use a USB drive, which in my opinion would be better since Sync voice commands can then be used to access songs or albums from the drive, hands free
For Sync to "see" the USB stick it needs to be Formatted as exfat, most come formatted as Fat32, so you need to re-format the USB drive to exfat FIRST
Then load it as you like, as Albums or as individual songs
Exfat is one of the selections that comes up when you select Format from computer menu, so you don't need new software, it's just another format/file system option
Also not a bad idea to transfer the cassettes music to digital now, so you can still use it after tape wears out or deteriorates, tape lasts 30 years, if kept out of the sunlight and humidity
When you move them to your car again........................the downward slide goes into high gear, lol

RonD, good info, thanks.
We have been using USB pen drives & the phones just fine. But, I have HUNDREDS of cassettes & CDs!
My wife & I have a 5 hour drive each time we visit our son in northern VT, so we've got lots of time to listen to talks.
I've digitized some directly from CDs, fairly easy. Looks like I'll have to get busy.
Thanks again. I'll look into the FM xmitter, that might be the ticket. Davebo

I couldn't get the Bluetooth transmitter to pair with the radio, the radio (Sync) doesn't even see it.
I got an iSimple FM transmitter (Thanks RonD) that includes USB pen drive support & charging (2 ports) and that's working beautifully.
