You guys with subs...got a question for ya....

I'm in the process of building a box for two 12's for the extended cab of the truck. I was curious if you guys were removing the seats in the extended cab when you put a box back there. I guess there really wouldn't be a point for them to be there if you're going to put a box there, but I wasn't sure how difficult they were to remove.

I figured I'd ask before I started buying wood for the box so I can get the right dimensions so I know what I have to work with.

Thanks guys!

Since mine is a 4-door, the seats are bolted to the back of the cab. I'm guessing they come off pretty much the same way...just need the right tools...Ford and their Torx bolts lol

Bill, do you have any pictures of your set up?

you need a 13mm socket and i think its a T45 for the torx bolts. 2 torx bolts and 3 13mm bolts then they should come right out.

Yea I will get some pictures up.

Zach I thought the seat belt bolts were T50?

This is what I have right now, all Memphis components. I bought it all off of Jason(LeftofEdge) when he sold his truck and couldnt be happier that I did.

Yeah they are T50's. I left my jump seats in but that is because mine fold back into the body. they dont stick out like some of the newer ones.

wow that's a prettty nice set up. I was going to point mine up I think. I've got a basic idea of what I want to do but I just need to pull the jump seats out and then see how much room I have. I was thinking of movie the jack to the little toolbox i have in the back of the truck. We'll see if I need to or not. Thanks for the info though guys. I gotta swing by Autozone and get some Torx bits.

facing them upward, i think will give you a better sound than down firing them. imo though. thats how mine are

A friend of mine used to be involved in a lot of bass competitions.....im not really interested in overpowering bass but he knows how to even out the sound so its not overcome with just bass and nothing else.

He has an S-10 Xtreme with two Infinity Perfect's pointing up. It sounds really nice. I was going to have him help me get it to where I wanted it to be but I'm 98% sure they'll be pointing up.

My only qualms with pointing subs upward is that they're easier to see (and thus for thieves to see) and you run the risk of something falling onto/damaging the sub. My box will be downfiring.
