My cab is full of dirt, and by that I mean EVERYWHERE. I can hardly read the gauges there is so much dirt on my dash.

I'm thinking of just removing everything from the truck and taking a power washer to it all (or maybe a regular hose? advise please!). Doors, windows, seats, floors, dash, everything.

I know there's electrical components inside the cab (power locks, radio, cruise control, etc.) so I was thinking of maybe doing this after I parked the truck for the evening.

Thoughts? Opinions? Suggestions?

 

you can hose out the floor, but for everything else take a sponge and soapy water and spend a few hours getting it clean... all spraying the dash will do is get muddy water behind the gauges

 

I wouldn't do it. Honestly last time i was out in the desert and had my cab full of dust and some dirt. I just vacuumed like crazy and used a swifter (duster thing). Also Take off the parts where your vents for air are and clean those out otherwise you will feel dirt always being blown in your face.

Other then that id use a shammy too and just wipe things down.

I would definately stay away from washing the inside.. It might not ever dry out properly...

 

ya not suggested to take a hose to the dash n stuff

 

I use those armorall wipes for the dash and everything. They work pretty good but I have to used like 20 haha

 

take the dash apart as far as you feel comfortable, or see dirt. use compressed air to blow out everything. then wipe all the parts down with damp cloth(soap and water) as you reassemble. doors work this way as well.

seats, vacuum like crazy, and if thats not good enough, pull the covers off and toss em on the washer.

carpet same as seats, except pull it out and take it to the pressure washer.

 

Alright, looks like I will be spending my day off tomorrow cleaning everything by hand. And to think I spent about 3 hours on my day off last week cleaning my exterior. lol oh well what must be done, must be done.

 

Like said above it will just turn to mud and seep into everything. I just used a vacuum and wipes, works wonders.

Or go to a car wash.

 

Use compressed air. If you don't have an air compressor just buy the things for keyboards. Also just use windex and towels. Buy a lot of towels from wal mart or something and use windex. Works wonders.

Ask how I know? L-cross I left my windows down...

 

I wouldn't suggest compressed air. It will just spread all the dust around lol, maybe even make it all go behind your dash.

I like this stuff in a yellow can called Tuff stuff. It foams up you just take a rag and wipe it off. After you get all the crap off then you can amor all it off

 

You definitely should not spray water anywhere other than the floor. Even if everything still works afterwards (doubtful), corrosion will follow and cause a whole world of problems for you.

Even with the plastic floor covering, you should avoid spraying a lot of water on it. There is sound padding under the plastic, and if water sits there for a long time, you will get mold, and mold stinks. I know people who have done this before, but you are much better off vaccuming the floor, spraying it with cleaner (409, Orange Blast, Simple Green, etc...), and then wiping the cleaner up.

 

I vacuumed everything yesterday. Seats, floor, dash, radio, windows, doors, etc. Vacuum alone worked quite well. It's not "clean" per say but it's definitely a whole lot nicer.

 

Just do that a few more times and you will be golden! until the next time your offroad...

 

I dont like the idea of hosing out even the floor. The water will get underneath the carpet or vinyl and soak the insulation. That can encourage corossion of the floorboards and grow mildew and mold.

 

buy an element, then hose that out
