Have a new Ranger the interior dash and plastic door trim has gotten dusty and dirty
would like to clean it ,but would like to keep it natural not shiny using Armoral,would a damp micro towel be O.K.or what would you use and also,
how do you avoid scrathing the plastic speedometer lens.Thank You.

 

wet cloth will be fine and it would be hard to scratch the plastic with a towel dont worry about its just plastic you cant hurt anything

 

I always use armor all on my dash. I've never considered my dash to be shiny. Also It has UV protectants in it that will help keep your dash looking new.

I use armor all cleaning wipes. I'm like you I dont like my dash looking shiny. but i do use armor all protectant wipes on the black trim pieces. This does a good job IMO.

 

or get a dashmat!

water+towel = biggest detail shop secret. I do it all day man, and if there's something that doesn't get a small shot of vinyl cleaner does the trick. I use a local vendor for that though.

 

Meguires Interior Qwil Detailer mist and a microfiber...or water and a cloth

 

I use Vinyl & Rubber Cleaner/Conditioner from Meguiar's. I like it so much better than armor-all. It cleans the plastic and gives it a new finish that is not shiny.

 

i use water and a cloth sometimes too when i'm too lazy to break out the armor all, does just as good of a job too.

 

I hate armor all, it leaves such an oily residue and is not fun on stuff you touch regularly. Windex and a towel is the best thing to use. When I am going to a show, I mist down the whole interior with meguires it's amazing.


Now if you go into the heavy dirt I use a product called suds (amazing all purpose cleaner and it's non toxic and actually is edible) http://www.sudscleaner.com/
That product and a toothbrush (or larger bristled brush but not to exceed the stiffness of a toothbrush) just work the product in and wipe it off. leaves the plastic or ANYTHING clean and shiny. A bit expensive but I have had the same bottle for a year now and it's not even half gone. We have a whole case at work we still haven't gone through in three years. Honestly a case is a lifetime supply.

 

I find that it's easiest to just pull the seats out when cleaning the plastic floor. Just remember to disconnect the electrical connector under the seal before you pull them out. Also need to feed the seat belt through the holder for the middle seat. Once you get the seats out it's much easier to clean up.

 

damp microfiber towel. but every once in a while use armor or something to protect the dash. man just get the disposable armor wipes, i dont think those shine.

 

well i work detailing cars and a micro-fiber towel will work quite well but to remove scuff marks and things like that you should use stronger chemicals

 

i use the meguries speed detailer on the inside and out. windows too. Windex can damage tinted windows.

 

i wouldn't recommend any windex or ammonia based products on the clear cluster bezel. just from my experiences with it.

i use '303' which is a good all around interior cleaner. Not too shiney, and awesome UV protection.
