Well the inside any way. I seafoamed it. It idles smoother now. I had good amount of smoke not too bad. Not like the time when I did it with my 88 BroncoII that had 300,000 miles. The ranger had 90,000. I also did it on my wifes Sebring that has 70,000. I got almost no smoke with her car but it is quieter at idle now.

I also got no smoke at all from my Ranger which makes me wonder if I did it right or my truck wasn't that bad full of carbon. I remember when I first got it and used to floor it, there used to be a lot of black/brownish smoke comming from the exhaust, not anymore.

 

when i did my truck, white smoke just poured out for a long time.

 

My ranger didn't smoke that much. My friends F-150 had about the same amount as my ranger at 150K miles and their 89 Mustang 5.0 released a nice smoke show with about 183k on it.

 

I have to try this Seafoam stuff soon!! I hear nothing but good things about it. I just changed my plugs though and I don't want to foul them out.

I am going to do sea foam this week with out fail. I have spring break so I am going to do some work on the rig while I have the time to do it.

 

so what all is involved in sea foaming it?

 

Turning your vehicle on, pulling the brake booster line, putting the line into the can of seafoam, letting it "drink" the seafoam, and running it til the smoke disperses.

After I re-installed the brake booster line, I drove the **** out of mine for about ten minutes and it ran oh so nice. That was with 56k miles.

ok so ive found that its right behind the master cyl (duh) .. but i pull the line thats on top of the booster? the one im lookin at goes straight into the intake manifold. is that the correct one?

I think I'm going to have to try. Tried lucas fuel treatment and didn't get any difference after I used the whole bottle. :(

 

got it done today... smoke poured out the pipes for at least 15 minutes, lol. mustve been pretty bad.

 

i might want to try this but im not really sure where to get started. where do I buy this stuff and does anyone have a step by step of what i should do that would be great.

 

anyone tried the seafoam for the transmissions? its something newi saw at the parts house the other day...read the stuff and sounds like a miracle if you ask me..and i'v noticed a difference when i put the seafoam in the engine of my 94 Ranger couple years ago...havent done it to my current 96 ranger..just figured i'd wait on the transmission seafoam until i hear something about it..let me know if you've tried it and if it helped. thanks

 

Im a newbie so... can anyone describe how do you open up the hose from brake booster?

do you just pull it out, or do you need a specific tool for it? please let me know!! I am very interested to clean out my engine.. it starts vibrate a little.

You will need a pair of needle nose pliers or channel locks..or what ever you want to use....pull the ring off the line going to the brake booster and then pull on it and it will come right off..hope this helps...sorry i couldnt think of everythings name..its 7:00 here so i'm still asleep

can anyone answer this...


Let me verify the steps...

1. Buy seafoam
2. Turn off engine
3. Disconnect hose from brake booster
4. Turn on engine and then let it suck up 1/3 of bottle
5. Turn off engine and let it sit for 20 minutes
6. Turn on engine and let smoke out
7. Drive slowly around until it goes back normal

Please correct me, if I am wrong.

warm motor up or cold it doesnt matter,
1. With vehicle off pull brake booster and put thumb over the hole and have someone start the vehicle.
2. I find it easy to pour 1/3-1/2 the can in a lil tupperware dish and stick the hose with finger still on it slowly letting it "sip" the seafoam or let it suck it all at once.
3. After its all gone turn the motor off wait the recommended 15 minutes and while waiting I like to spray seafoam on the walls of the throttlebody (BUT NOT MUCH! you can vaporlock the motor I hear from too much!)
4. After sitting for 15 min start it up letting it idle for a bit then go run the **** out of it if you choose ( I do when I do it)
5. It should smoke like crazy and now you put the rest of the can of seafoam in your gas!

 

Man im going to have to do this as well soon. Might be a good idea..

What are the consequences if you screw up...? Sounds like youd have to screw up on purpose to do anything wrong.. but im just curious..?
