Cleaning Alum Wheels

I got some Eagle Alloy 058s and i wanna clean em really good b4 i throw em on the truck..

but all the products that i got say not to use it with Alum..so i need a good product that will work good with alum..i got a steam cleaner so im gunna use that and hopefully it will work out for me..

you will want a buff ball for a drill. and some mothers mag & aluminum polish and go to work.

Mother's Mag/Aluminum polish is the way to go.

And if you have the money, get them powder coated in clear. It's the last time you'll have to polish them, and powder coating is way more durable than a clear lacquer.

If you go through with the powder coating, let us know how it works. It MAY require that you scuff the surface of the wheels to make the powder coat stick, but you lose the nice finish.

I was going to buy a set of ProComp 1069s and get them powder coated, but bought some FX4 Alcoas instead. I'd be interested to know what surface prep is involved.

how long did you work at it?

i spent over an hour on each wheel while they were off the truck.

just an hour per wheel??? so far i have about 20 hours in on my wheels on the vette, and they still aren't done yet
