I'd worry a lot more about everything on the underside of the truck and body rusting. The best cure for that is getting an automatic car wash of the type where the underside of the vehicle is given a good wash, and do it after the snow and salt have left the road.

Yeah damn salt. I put a coat of wax on my wheels for this. As for the undercariage, there is snow and salt all winter down here so washing it is only a VERY temporary remedy. I undercoat my underbody to prevent rust instead of washing it every day..
I've been using the Mother's Powerball with Mequires NXT metal polish, then going over that with Mequires Cleaner wax on a terry cloth applicator pad, followed by Mother's Sealer and Glaze on another terry cloth applicator pad. Its alot of work, but it gets off the oxidation and protects the rims for a while. ...For serious oxidation, something more powerful might be needed.
I live up in Saskatchewan, Canada. We get a good 6 month long fall/winter/spring with snow and lots of salt. My best recommendation, although this is a pain in the ***, is when you get home, just take a bucket of warm water and some soap and take a sponge and just quickly wash off the rims. All you need is something to dilute the salt and that always works great.
As well I used an aluminum mag sealer once in awhile when I remember, it is basically a wax made for aluminum I believe. But the most important thing is not leaving the salt on too long.
