Deep scratches and more...
I've been reading up on removing scratches but since I've never dealt with this before I don't know where to start. I have many long scratches over the entire body but the big issue is with this picture. I is several years old and never rusted so I don't think the paint was taken out.
All the youtube videos only address small areas or light scratches. So what about these and working an area the size of a hood? Thanks in advance. http://i58.photobucket.com/albums/g2...r/IMG_3763.jpg |
Looks like it is scratched down to the Primer.
There is a Paint color code number on the drivers door label, you can often get color "sticks" from a Ford Dealer that includes a small brush, but getting a smaller tip brush is also a good idea. These 'sticks' are not cheap, expect to pay $25-$35, this is a lacquer paint same that is on the truck now. You need to fill in the scratch first, you can get a spot putty from most auto parts stores, you fill in the scratches and remove the rest, let it dry and then paint it. Simple steps here: How to touch up a deep paint scratch in your car. |
Ordered some spot putty and paint, found Ford OEM paint on amazon $14. I'm also looking at a repair kit to do the hood/body. Any recommendations?

Here is a thread of when I had to fix scratches when my truck got keyed. I explained the process I used in the last post
