Engine Cleaning?
What is the best and easiest way to clean metal shaving out of your motor? There are a ton of little crevaces and then you got the head and oil cooler. How do you get all of that cleaned out (This is with the motor disasembled of course).
Let me know. |
I would pressure wash it (prefer a steam jenny) , wipe down with a dry shop rag with loose fibers , followed with a wipe down with an oil soaked rag.
That is of coarse on a bare block with everything removed. |
Yeah, Everything is removed. Not sure if I willl get a rag in all these small holes. I was thinking about getting it as clean as I can and once I put the engine back together, run the motor for about 15 mins and change the oil and do that a time or two and that should get most of the places I couldnt get to.

It wouldn't hurt to epoxy a magnet to the bottom of the oil pan (outside of coarse) and the oil filter to help catch the fine stuff.
|
Thats a good idea. I was gonna spend a little extra money and get a magnatized drain plug but that sounds like a better Idea cause I can put as many as I want and were I want.
