A great mud remover/degreaser

Alot of you might have heard of this or use it. It's called purple power and the stuff is amazing. Just dont apply it in direct sunlight lol. We use it as a truck wash so we buy the stuff in bulk, but Ive seen it at auto zone before for a good price.

*****Edit*****Guess I shoulda been a little clearer. I didnt mean as anything to wash paint---I meant mud/grease from the under your trucks and engine grease. Sorry about that- Ambulance company so we have to keep them pretty tight. For truck wash we use blue marvel, however im open to suggestions if you guys know anything easier to clean our trucks with.

we have that stuff at work to clean the shop bays...will clean anything

OTRtech 10-15-2010 11:28 AM

DO NOT use it on a vinyl tiled floor . It will pull the coloring out. Basicly bleaching the floor.

wait wait wait...you wash trucks with that stuff?!

dixie_boysles 10-15-2010 11:33 AM

This is just wrong, purple power is the worst stuff you can use, and i definitely wouldn't use it as a car wash! If anything use simple Green. Purple power will deteriorate any plastics and vinyls!

djfllmn 10-15-2010 11:35 AM

good point

your raping the sh!t out of your paint stop it. never apply anything that degreases, simple green, dawn, to your paint unless its for the once a year master detailing

djfllmn 10-15-2010 11:54 AM

not only will the degreaser strip all the wax off...it will start degreading your clearcoat...next thing you know it will start to lift and peel

none of that stuff ever touched my paint. simple green only touches the tires, seats, engine bay, and undercarriage. only Meguiars products touches this paint.

I use purple power in my parts washer and it works great for that. I can soak pistons with heavy carbon build up over night and most of it disappears.

Mix it with DOT 3 brake fluid in your wash bucket if its really dirty.

dixie_boysles 10-15-2010 01:51 PM

purple power IS a great cleaner, but not for car washes and rubber and vinyl

With a cupfull of acetone to give it that little 'kick'.

Yeah, I only use purple power to wash nasty crap like calipers, frame, and undercarriage. And when it is used, I dilute it quite a bit. It doesn't take alot of that stuff to get the job done. As everyone else has said absolutely do not use that stuff on paint. My granddad and I are currently rebuilding a 64 Falcon and after 46 years of sitting, purple power will peel the built up grime and grease like it is nothing. So as a degreaser, it is definitely the stuff to use. Not as a "soap" for the paint.

We use purple power for stripping paint on model cars. most paint/clears take just a couple hours. works great for stripping some chrome plating on plastics.
