Heavy paint oxidation
 

My 2005 Ford Ranger has heavily oxidized paint on the hood and on the roof. I am the original owner and lived in Kona, Hawaii for 14 years which subjected it to a lot of volcanic air and salt. I have tried fine rubbing compound and a couple of other minimally invasive methods but it is still oxidized. Very rough surface. Any suggestions short of repainting it? Thanks.

I have the same problem same places on 1998 here in Florida I think our only option is To paint
