How best to clean/polish my 93 Ranger Rims?

I have these (this is not my wheel, just photo of exact wheel for example)

They are pretty oxidized, and when I try to polish them, they still turn out crappy.

What, precisely is the steps I take to clean and polish these buggers. I want to make sure I do it right, so I dont damage them, or make them worse.

stripped.. then polish... they are clear coated from the factory...

I used to have those wheels, just used some mothers aluminum and mag polish and a little muscle and they turned out shiney

How to strip them first?

Ok, used some Tal-Strip, and the parts of the wheel I actually got the stripper off look good, but there is the green stripper on parts of the wheel I cant get back off to save my life.

I let it sit for 5 minutes before hosing and scrubbing with 1000 grit sandpaper.

What do I do now??????
