"Lucas" fast & easy speed wax
 

Does anyone find this stuff to be good? It's "Lucas" brand slick mist fast and easy speed wax.

What you do is spray it on your clean vehicle, wipe with a soft towel and you have a waxed truck.
I'm just afraid to do the old fashioned waxing with the buffing and stuff because doesn't that leave tiny tiny swirl scratches?
I have been using this spray for a little while now and am quite impressed with it, just wondering if anyone else uses it.

Never used it, but an old fashioned wax and buff is fine with the proper prep. The most important being a clean (dirt-free) paint surface. I would also stay away from regular towels and use microfiber.

The Meguiars Quik Wax is actually pretty good.

That's what I use for car shows. Wash the truck and use that when I get to the show. Looks amazing after you've used it.

Yeah I use that too when I'm to lazy to get out the buffer and do a full detail.

Hmm, I may have to try some. Not to derail the thread, but how do you like the NXT wax? I find it attracts quite a bit of dirt. I know you're into car detailing, what do you like?

I really like NXT, thats what I use a lot. I keep a California Car Duster in my truck though and give that a go over if its really dusty. Or hit it with the Meguiars Last Touch Detailer if its really bad and I have more time to kill. I have a bottle of Meguiars #26 in the garage though I need to try, a lot of the guys on the Meguiars forums are using the #26 and then topping it with the NXT with good results.

Is that stuff you spray on and wipe right off?

Yes. It works great too! I just clay-barred then waxed mine with the NXT wax and then sprayed it/wiped it down with the Quik Wax and it looked amazing. I love that stuff.

Now if you just waxed it theres no reason to use the Quik Wax, just use the Quick Detailer.

I only use the quick wax when I start to feel a little resistance on the rag when using the quick detailer.

Maybe once every month or two. I love the spray wax though.

Don't mean to keep going on about this, but I'm wondering if using the quick spray wax (a good kind, not cheapo) is as good in the long run as a regular waxing job.
That Meguiars Quik Wax seems high quality stuff, I think I'll try it. That's if I can find it.
The sun is SO harsh here, I keep in the shade as much as possible, but I'd like to protect the finish as much as possible.

I mean it will never be as good as a full wax job with deepness, shine and how long it lasts but for someone that just wants it to look good it works great.

given the fact that if I'm lucky Ill hand wax my truck once a summer as opposed to hitting it with the spray wax every week or so I would say its better.

Even if the product isnt 100% as good as paste wax, if Im using it much more then the difference is nil.

A spray-on wax is maintenance/booster wax you can use to give your car that "Just Waxed Look" faster than if you applied a normal coat of wax. It does leave behind a protective coating as well as a shine but a normal coat of a normal liquid or paste wax is going to leave behind a more substantial protective coating. There is nothing wrong with using spray waxes, but they should not replace a "normal" wax.

I know that this is an old thread, but I have two vehicles I'd like to Wax and besides time I lack confidence in using a buffer, etc. I'm willing to experiment on my wife's vehicle since her's news more attention and can be the practice car. How long does the wax last? I want something that doesn't fade easily or quickly.

the spray wax doesnt last that long...if it needs a lot of attention you want to use a regular paste wax...that will last a LOT longer

Yeah a spray wont last long at all. I would use it more to lengthen a hand wax than on its on. It doesn't take that long to put on a hand coat of Meguiars Gold Class, that will a while too.

I use Turtle Wax wax as you dry everytime I wash my truck. Works great and last long. Tried maguires speed detailer wax as you dry and it was horrible. It left a film every where. Rewashed and waxed with the Turtle Wax. Much better no white film great shine.

i use the slick mist by lucas but i also paste wax the slick mist helps the wax last longer. but it is a very good product i use it after every wash.

I know this is not going to be a head turner but that Liquid Luster was the easiest liquid wax I had ever used, hands down. I'm not paying $12.00 a bottle and $15 for shipping . Can't find it at any auto shows anymore. For the past 5 years ( since I told my younger sister to hold off on the car care gift packs for X-mas till I use the other 4 up) I've been keeping with Mother's California Gold and a clay bar. I've seen those spray on types, I think its for those who take a few minutes after "every" car wash to wax their cars, I'm on the two times a year plan with our rides. The truck gets the brunt of the weather ( being out 24/7 and working near a quarry) my wife's car gets the garage next to the covered 89 Mustang GT convertible. Two coats by hand and then a finish coat with a orbital buffer.
