Cleaning steering wheel?

The truck I got was sitting for about 2 years. I don't know if it is from the sun or what but it is very sticky on the top (nothing nasty lol). I was wondering if there is anyone else who this has happened to or know how to remove it?

my wheel does this when I let moisture in...leaving windows open all night etc. I just dry it the best I can with either heat tool (lights, hair dryer) then protectant like armor all then dry really really good again.

If its sticky try Goof Off.

It might be a good idea to try water and a rag first.

Spray9 and GooGone if Spray9 doesn't work then clean everything right after with soap and water.

I tried a baby wipe first (it was handy, shut up lol) and it was sticky to it... I will try the goo gone next. Personally, I don't care how it looks, just as long as it gets the stickt sh*t off. Then, soap and water to get any residue off.

Clean it up the first time with soap and water, Rinse it really good with water only, Use a clean wet rag, keep it wet and scrub . Most of that sticky crap will come off just using water, solvents just move it around and make it more sticky.

If all else fails, buy a steering wheel cover from one of the auto stores.

I use the Bath & body works aintbactiral wipes...they make the car small nice too! I love a multi-tasker!Target has something in the "travel size" section... I can't remember what it's called, but it looks like a little thing of stick deodorant & it's used for wiping down a public toilet seat before you use it.Something else would be the alcohol wipes you see at the doctor's office. onw will wipe off the hole steering wheel & a lot of the little packets would fit in your console!
GOOD LUCK!

I have used a product called "Totally Awesome" to clean interiors, including steering wheels. You can get the stuff at Dollar stores. Works extremely well in getting oil and grime out.

Sorry to raise the dead but brake cleaner works excellent. Even if yours is leather wrapped it will remove all the grease and dirt and the moisture and oils from your hand will keep it conditioned.

If its leather don't use stuff like Armor All. Once its clean use something for leather. I wouldn't use anything made by that company.
