Removing mold from interior
 

My Mazda has been parked for some time , not at my house , and with the famous leaks these things have , I have developed a little mold problem. Anyone have any great solutions on getting rid of the stuff ? Its on the seats , the door panels and seat belts especially . I was going to get new carpet anyway so Im not to concerned about that. There is a musty smell of course but I feel once I have the windows opened , vents cleaned , and just general use , most of that will go away.

First and foremost, stop the leak(s)

Second get a dehumidifier bucket, marine grade is best, google: starbrite dehumidifier bucket

vinegar and water will kill the mold on upholstery and most plastics without hurting either.
Scrub it off then dry the areas with a clean cloth
It WILL come back unless you keep it VERY DRY inside the cab, so roll up the windows and put in the dehumidifier bucket, this will make the air inside the cab drier than outside the cab.

You can't kill the mold spores, after the nuclear war, cockroaches and mold spores will still be here, lol.
Oh yea, and zombies too.

The vents are where the spores will live, you can pop off the covers and try cleaning inside with vinegar and water solution.

You will never get rid of the mold entirely, the smell and visible signs can be dealt with but once there is mold it will come back fairly fast if you leave cab humid for any length of time.

I had read about the vinegar/water solution . Im taking the seats to get shampooed and scrubbed . Im going to take the vents off and rig up something I can reach back as far as possible in the duct. I keep stopping by and rolling the windows down , opening the doors, while the sun is out . Its warming up so I figure the sun will help a lot.

I actually went today and caulked the heck out of the brakelight , I figure that's a good place to start .

Get the dehumidifier bucket, leave windows up, you are just letting in more moisture

Heat/sun = humidity in outside air

The dehumidifier will work even better if cab gets warmed up by the sun and trapped moisture gets released into the air.

If truck has Air Conditioning run it at MAX A/C, that closes outside vent, and it will dry the interior air out quite a bit, thats the water you see dripping out of a vehicle when AC is on, the water is from the moisture taken out of the air inside the vehicle, all of it.

I would love to turn the AC to help dry out the interior , but right now , there's nothing running on the truck . I'll be getting a new motor soon . I'm getting everything together to tackle the mold soon .
