Cleaning aluminum engine parts

Any thoughts on how to clean the oxidized & pitted aluminum parts of the engine (Altenator & top of engine)?

i spray my engine down with the pressure washer until i dont see anymore dirt, coat it in some orange blast, let it sit for a few min, spray it down again with the pressure washer, coat it with simple green, let it sit for a few, spray it down again, and let it dry... works wonders. my engine looks brand new.

I also have a pressure washer but Im afraid of messing something up. Do you cover anything when you spray under the hood?

you have to be careful - probably spray it onto a cloth first, then rub - but brake cleaner works great on the porus stuff.
