Rust??

i've got a few patches of surface rust on my driver door and fenders.

the biggest one is the size of a quarter for now.

i've sanded them down to bare metal and sprayed it with a clear coat to seal it.

i do plan on getting the truck painted soon, but are there other ways to prevent and stop rust?

use a rust inhibitor on it for now.

if the problem continues its time to cut it out about 1 inch ouside of the rust area and weld in a new piece ..then reprime it paint it . coming from canada and having restored acouple vehicals rust wont stop normally you need to cut it out and replace that metal

afew times it will stop if its surface but the inhibitor needs to work most times it doesn't though.

Get some POR-15 to put over the rust. I used it on my trailer hitch 5 months ago and there is no sign of any rust starting again. The hitch was completely rusted and now it looks brand new.
