seat/ carpet cleaner

what kind of soap would you use to shampoo the seats and carpets in the truck ( cloth) that wont fade them but will get them clean i am going to rent a carpet machine and use the upholstery cleaner part to do the truck while i have it.. I wonder if the stuff from Rug Doctor will work although im kinda scared cause it says it can fade and cause fabrics to tear

I've always used the bissel shampoo soap, and never had an issue.

think it will get out some soda that spilled as well as regular dirt?

l2en 04-05-2007 03:37 PM

heck, plain ol hot water from a steamer vac takes out most stains by itself. add soap and it's on! lol

I use shampoo very wisely so that not get it rough.

if you can spare your seats for a day, unbolt them and use whatever upholstry cleaner in a spray can. scrub it in with a tire brush. use a shop-vac to suck as much of it out. then use a lot of water and soak/scrub it in....then suck that out with the shop vac. set out in the sun to dry. worked great.

Using shampoo in cleaning rugs? I never tried it before @_@.. It sounds weird..

I have a Hoover with the spin brushes for cleaning. Don't get the cleaner with the roller bar, had one of those and it wasn't good.

you could always just pull the covers and wash them in a washing machine. but i find that hot water, a couch cleaning attachment on a rug cleaner, and a scrub brush is best.

I bought a 93 Ranger about a month ago. the drivers seat was almost black it was so dirty and the carpet was dirty and greasy. I took the seats out pulled the covers off and washed them in the washer it 2 times but they came out looking great for as old as they were. Then removed the carpet took it to the car wash used the engine and tire cleaner on it and pressure washed the dirt and grease out. let it sit out in the sun for 2 days to completly dry.

Tuff Stuff you can buy it at walmart and it works great

STLRanger 12-10-2011 09:41 AM

if you're scared about losing the integrity of your seats, use regular old shampoo or some carpet cleaner for cars. if you're trying to get big spots out or just want them super clean, what i've always done with mine and it still looks great, is soak the carpets in Kaboom carpet cleaner (for your house), get a brush or towel and rub it in real good. Respray everything again, vacuum for about twice as long as you normally would until it's super dry. It'll look like a professional cleaned it

2 Attachment(s)
1 part Simple Green to 3 parts water , spray on the mix from an old spray bottle (Windex) and extract out with my Sanitaier vacuum. Water rinse and suction through the same wand. Just like the ones at the car wash but smaller.

i just take the carpet out and take it to a car wash and clean it with high pressure soap and then rinse with high pressure rinse then vacume out with there carpet vacume and clean it on a warm sunny day hit any bad stains with resolve carpet cleaner and scrubb with a nylon brissil brush and scotch guard afterward and it will come out nice and clean

I own a Rug Doctor and have always used it on automotive upholstery and carpeting. Works like a champ.

rangergay 03-12-2014 08:18 PM

I just use Meguairs all purpose cleaner diluted into 4:1 or 10:1 than lightly brush it away and use a vacuum extractor to deep clean the area.

Do the covers just pull off? I have a small issue with the drivers back and I would like to remove it. Does it just unclip from the bottom and pull over the foam?

Fabric Clean from Chemical guys. $10 for 16 oz that you dilute 20:1 does an awesome job. Save some money and use your shop vac to extract excess. Works great
