Tips on fixing paint chips?
I've found a paint chip on my car, it looks like a tire kicked up a rock at me. I hit it with some Duplicolor touch up brush primer, paint and clear coat. It left a little raised area, so I wet sanded it for a few seconds with 1000 grit paper. Now I've got some areas in the clear coat surrounding my touch up where it's dull.
My plans are to go over it with some 3M rubbing compound and then throw some wax over it, and hopefully it will be shining like it originally did again.
Does this seem like the right thing to do, and can anybody tell me if there's a better way to take care of paint chips? One thing I read online was not to use a brush on clear, but a quick thin coat of spray on clear - then taking off the extra with rubbing compound. I'm not so sure about that one, but it would probably look better than how my fix turned out.

personally i wouldnt have used 1000g on fresh and good surrounding paint, buffing out 1000 grit scratches takes alot more work then 2000g scratches. if buffing didnt return gloss you probably sanded the layer of clear off the color coat. id reclear, sand with 2000-3000 range of paper then buff it again but i stay away from touch up paint because it alsways seems to make things that were bad worse.
