Lemmy; Because it happens at around 2300 RPM you may want to check that the IMRC actuator rod has not popped off the IMRC ball. It's at the back of the intake right next to the firewall and a real pain to see. A flashlight and inspection mirror will help. The IMRC kicks in around 2000-2300 RPM.

You might also want to check the two vacuum hoses coming out of the IMRC Solenoid. They will dry rot.

Even though it wasn't very old I took the coil off to look at it and found a hairline crack on the back. I took it in for a free replacement (still under warranty) and fixed the problem. I think with this truck any time you have hesitation or misses without a code I think the coil is the first place to look at the plug wires are probably the second. But the IMRC is definitely a good thing to check. I hadn't thought of that. The insert on the front popped out once and I replaced the intake, but I have never had the actuator rod pop off.

Just wanted to contribute because I used this thread to help my own issues. Same problem here. 2004 b2300 2.3 duratec with 102,000 miles. recent new plugs and wires. but had developed a low rpm stumble/miss/hesitation/buck when accelerating hard at low rpms. Ran fine once at speed. I started by cleaning MAF and MAP sensor because I saw this had helped others. While this made the truck idle and run overall better (This had never been done before), it was still not the fix. I proceeded with Napa's Echlin Coil replacement, and presto! Fixed. Totally Fixed. Truck runs like new.
