Mazda b2300 2009 - 110 000km Manual.

The truck runs like a top most of the time.

Recently it has issues with a low/rough idle and power loss. It threw an engine code for Air intake sensor ? I think it was called. It's the sensor that's paired with the MAF.

Swapped out the MAF and the problem seemed solved for about a month or 2. Then out of nowhere it seems to be happening again. It seems to happen randomly and each time I turn off the truck restart it, it's as if it never happened.

Based on the intermittent nature of the problem I was to say a sensor or something electrical ? I'm a big DIY and enjoy fixing the truck but I can't figure this one out.

I'm also weary of taking it to shop as it's such a random occurrence I don't feel like paying someone $50 to drive my truck around and tell me it's fine.

Any thoughts ?

Need the exact code number

Never google a code number, look it up FIRST on a full list, like this one: https://therangerstation.com/tech_li...II_codes.shtml

You will see that pretty much every sensor or control has 3 to 10 codes of its own, and the code the computer uses is important..........but the ones it does NOT USE are just as important to rule things out

Air temp sensor has these:
P0109 Intake Air Temperature Circuit Malfunction
P0111 Intake Air Temperature Circuit Range/Performance Problem
P0112 Intake Air Temperature Circuit Low Input
P0113 Intake Air Temperature Circuit High Input
P0114 Intake Air Temperature Circuit Intermittent

But there are more for this sensor, these are just most common


A Bluetooth OBD2 reader is a good investment, $20-40, works on ANY vehicle sold in US or Canada since 1996, by law
Its wireless and you can view LIVE data on smart phone or tablet which can be helpful with intermittent issues
APPs are free or $5
If you get one get extension cable with it, some OBD plugins are recessed too far or off center
