2003 2.3 Cuts out over 3100 rpms
Ok guys. Just trying to pick some brains or if someone has had the issue. Bought a 2003 2wd 2.3l XLT 111,00 mules for $250.00 a few weeks back. I have replaced a few things because of codes and now coming back "pass". Replaced the intake (IMRC rail plug and bushing missing), O2, PCV, air and fuel filters, cam sensor, plugs, wires, a couple vacuum lines, etc.
It cuts out at about 3100 rpms, almost like it has a rev limiter on it. It's also idling about 1100 rpms. The idling could be another vacuum leak or pcv hose and the rain is keeping me from getting to that. EGR opening inside of old intake, and backside if throttle body were caked with 1/16" of crud from EGR. I have been researching this for a while and EGR is next on my list "just because", but I am stumped on the 3100 rpm cutting out. Any Ideas???????????? I've read that Transmission Range Selector/ Park Neutral Safety Switch could be shorted out telling computer that its in neutral and thereby rev limiter kicks in.
