I have a 2004 4cyl Ranger. When I got the truck I couldn't get a reading on the dip stick so I drained the oil and put in new oil and a new filter. I put in exactly the amount of oil the book called for so I know it's full. Thing is that it still doesn't read right. I am starting to think the last owner may have lost the dip stick and just stuck another one in.

If anyone has a picture of the right dip stick I would love to see the correct one. I'd also like it if someone could measure the length of theirs so I can measure mine to see if it's correct.

How else would I go about figureing out if I have the wrong one? I'd prefer not to go buy a new one until I know if I have the wrong one or not.

if i remember tomorrow i'll grab you a picture..but for reference, i can tell you right now, they're about 18 to 20 inches long...
