This is awesome!!! I think I've got almost everything lined up for the turbo, I just needed a tune. Now that I know where to get get tune, I'll start ordering parts tonight.

Air cooled turbo. No oil or water needed.

42 lb hour fuel injectors
https://www.bmotorsports.com/shop/pr...oducts_id/1602

Turbo manifold
https://caautoparts.com

I haven't decided what kind of blow off valve yet, or if I'll need a boost controller. I may not even buy the manifold, and install it a bit further back down the exhaust. This is my daily work truck, so I want to keep my heat and ac.

I know I need a 4.0 radiator and some turbo piping. I appreciate your help. With this info, there could be an army of boosted rangers running amok.

This boost controller seems nifty and thrifty.

your fuel pump may be going out, autozone has a pressure test kit you can rent and you would hook it to the Schrader valve, if its low then it would be your pump, the next option would be your map sensor isn't reading right as this engine runs both map and maf, part of why these engines get crazy mileage, the last thing may be that your cams have slipped and may need to be re timed, if you need info on that ill give you every single detail

Keep us updated on the turbo, personally I would run q Blow off on all of my turbo vehicles its just an extra safety measure, what did you do for internals? The stock dtec can handle about 8 pounds and if i had a year of tuning time could handle probably about 13

Now an update for yall about the 2.7L stroker, I've been seeing about 52 mpg in 6th gear cruising at 80, I ripped a ford fusion 2.5 ecoboost (duratec) and skimmed the the tune over for cruising conditions, also installed the electronic boost controller and was able to get some excellent mileage also I have a HP and Tq graph from my dynotest with the boost controller and have made some changes but im gonna do a video of my next dyno test here in the coming month just keep in mind my turbo is on the small side for the build for mid to low range power and small turbos become less efficient the higher the rpms go after peak boost pressure, so I can imagine a sequential system would be insane but that will be on the Next 2.7L I build

That Dyno chart for the 2.7 looks insane! I bet you could rose tires clear into 3rd.

I haven't done any modifications to the internals. I'm only looking to push around 6 to 8PSI. I just want to get the truck somewhere around 200 horsepower.

I have to do emissions testing every 2 years. I can't take this truck too far past stock otherwise it won't pass. I will have to take the Turbo parts off before testing, flash the computer to stock and drive it around for a couple of days to get the monitors all back on.

You might be able to get away with leaving the turbo on but I wouldn't hold my breath each city and state is different

Flash tuners aren't even allowed here anymore. I have to get my sctx4 here by means of trickery. It has to stay as much off the radar as possible

Yup. Going to have to send the tuner to Texas or Arizona, and then have them mail it to me from there.

I just gotta get this truck to be able to push those 33" tires with all the extra weight of the suspension and everything else. I drive almost a 1000 miles a week. I love my truck but it needs some help.

If eventually I can change the pistons and rods to push a little extra boost, and get this thing to accelerate like my f150 that would be even better

Ok. Just got home and under my truck. There's a couple of different potential options to put this turbo. I don't know it's dimensions yet. But its the CTR3081E-5858 from comp turbo. No oil or water cooling lines needed. If it will fit with a new manifold, I will put it there. I am not going to delete my climate controls

Second option is to put a T between the 2 cats, weld on a mounting plate, run the line around the tranny and mount it in the empty space under the driver door. A little creative hose work and viola.

3rd option. Waaaaaaay back where the stock muffler is. Tons of room. I know there will be turbo lag. But I'm not racing. Seems like the easiest option.

Not too worried about it hitting anything. The truck will be like 7-9" taller than it is now.

Hey T bone, do I need to 42lb injectors or will the stock injectors run 6-8 psi?

I'm getting on that spending spree right now.

The comp turbo guy gave the wrong model # turbo. The one he sent requires oil lines. I want the air cooled model. This company doesn't accept returns, so I'm not buying anything until I have the right part. $730 for a turbo I can't return is a bit steep

I emailed him and asked which one to use. I'm assuming he meant this one.

A rear mount won't work, you would need an absolutely tiny turbo, ideally for what your doing you want 47 to 52mm .5 ar, also, I run an oil feed from the oil pressure dummy switch in the filter housing then I run the return through to an oil cooler then the valve cover as a return

What if I made a split header, ran 2 ports under and around the motor, and mounted the turbo on the driver side where there's tons of room?

I meant if you mounted the turbo where the muffler is, under the driver would be perfect

Turbo has been ordered. The sad part is, it's a 3-5 week delivery time. I guess they hand build them.
if I order an 8 psi blow off valve and an 8 psi waste gate, will that work?

yea that will work, and will keep you from blowing the motor, before you turbo it what have you done for engine mods and how many miles on this engine just so I can guide you one last step in the right direction

I haven't done any engine mods. It's bone stock.
I dont know how many miles it has. I had it replaced about a year ago with a "low mileage engine" at a shop.

If it blows, I'll have to do a real rebuild.

.

ok, well, who's gonna tune the truck again? Also youll want to retard your cams to lower your compression will make a good difference for keeping the engine alive

I thought it could handle 8 psi with the stock computer?

With a boost controller, I could just set the psi at 6. That might help it. If it blows, I can get another one and have it rebuilt with better pistons, arms, and have the head cleaned up . When the throttle body plate closes. Thr bov opens at 8 psi, it's only 2 lbs extra pressure. It should be able to handle that without major issue right?
