Im seriously looking getting back into a ranger. Ive been looking at the hard to get XLT supercab with the 2.3 duratec. I test drove it and happy with the power it has. The sticker says 19 city, 26 highway. Looking for opinions from owners. Thanks and sorry if something like this has been asked.

 

Wow! The sticker on my 4.0 says 18 city and 24 highway. My best mileage to date is 24.9mpg. Who needs a 4 banger??

 

Thats pretty good mileage on a 4.0. My 3.0 had bad gas mileage. But the 3.0 sticker says 16 t0 21 highway.

 

The 2.3 is great in a regcab, but I suspect it will suffer in an ext cab. Probably wont get near as good of gas mileage due to the extra weight. Might as well go with the 4.0 and just get a programmer Jon. Glad to see your coming back to a ranger though!

 

EPA has changed the numbers.. everything got worse..

wasnt sure if yours was stick but the epa now says 15 mpg city, 17 mpg mixed, and 21 mpg hwy for a 4.0 auto..

 

I average about 28mpg with reg cab and a stick. If I could keep my foot out of it, it would prolly be more.

 

I get around 20-23 city, 25-27 hwy..
