Fuel pressure - conquering the inaccessible schrader valve

Had I known that the engines in these were designed for transverse mounting I probably would have shopped for a different model. Another thing made very hard to access is the schrader valve, crammed between the IM and the firewall, and down under the wiring harness and other misc lines etc. If you're new to this, look for my other thread on things to do anyway when the Intake Manifold (IM) is out. I don't really know what I'm talking about, just gathered up advice from the folks here who do. I would have dealt with this then, when it was simple.

Anyway, I bit the bullet to do a fuel pressure test today. I quickly gave up on getting teflon tape on the valive. Can't access it well enough. Instead I finger-smeared some pipe dope on the outside threads of the valve. Then to get better access pulled the wire from the idle air control valve, moved the brake booster line out of the way, and eased the plastic peg for the wiring harness out of its hole to get a little more play. Then the fun began.

Climbed up and knelt on front of engine compartment, and reached my left hand under the IM. With my right, guided the line of the guage (this one from Harbor Freight) to get the threads started. But I couldn't get a grip to turn it home. So I moved over the driver's side, and used a basin wrench I had a little trouble with the nut loosening each time I tried to readjust, but there was just enough friction between the house and the fitting I could just hold the hose and then turn the fitting bit by bit with the basin wrench. No leaks, first try. Still its a PITA and I thought someone else might benefit from the basin wrench tip. So there ya go.

And yup sure enough, can't get pressure above 30 psi and it falls to zero right away. P171 eat your heart out. I gotcha now!
