"Service Engine Soon" light comes on

Hello guys,
I have a 2011 Ranger with 22K miles on it and the "Service Engine Soon" has started coming on. The first time was 2 weeks ago after I had filled it up. I called the dealer and was told: 1. Would be a week before they could look at it. 2. Not a big deal unless the engine goes into "limp mode". 3. Run a full tank thru it and see if it goes out.
It went out. I have run 2 tanks thru it and the light didn't come on until Monday when I filled it up. I am using Tier 3 gas(QT). I am confused+concerned.
Any ideas would be appreciated.

Thanks for your help,
Tim

Likely not a big deal.... but I'd be taking my truck elsewhere if that's where you bought it and they won't take 2 minutes to have someone at least check the codes for you!

Go to a parts place they can run codes. Sounds like emissions

22K and the light comes on in a new truck ?
You must have a lot better disposition than I as I would have dumped it in their parking lot in front of the service bay doors and demanded a loaner until it was fixed.
If they refused then I would remind them there is this great medium called the Internet where people can post their opinions about dealership service and mention names.

Make sure it isn't something easy like the gas cap not being on properly.

The "Service Engine Soon" light came on in my 2006 Ranger yesterday. It's got 125,000 miles on it and I've never seen that happen before, and most websites say it could be minor or major. it's due for a winter bumper-to-bumper look-see anyway so as soon as I get the verdict I'll post.
