Hi I have 2005 turbo diesel ford ranger burns a lot of diesel and i do a lot of miles per week . Diesel costs 149 per litre here in Cork . Have had it checked in main dealers they said they just burn a lot of diesel . At present doing 15-22 mpg.
What can I do to raise this figure . Otherwise no trouble at all .I drive it easy but it still drinks too much .I would be interested if anyone has been able to get their Ranger running more cheaply .

A performance chip?

 

Not sure a performance chip is any good on 2.5td I have heard great improvements for newer common rail engine but not with my 05 mazda engine .If anyone out there has experience of same I d appreciate advice

Performance chip for 2.5td doesnt seem to be available
Many available for new common rail 2.5 and 3 litre diesel
I was thinking of changing diesel pump from old 03 2.5td Ranger model and I would have to also change to cable accelerator from 03 . hope for better ideas from forum members

You may be crap outta luck here my friend. I dont think many of us have experience with the diesels in rangers. What is the design on the motor? injection pump? common rail? heui? I may be able to point you in a direction but nothing to specific
