Slow to idle down, (deceleration)

New to me 2010 2.3 5 speed is slow to idle down, will stay as high as 25-2800 stopped and out of gear, then will cut off to 500, almost die, then steady out at 900 or so (normal). revving it etc seems to have no effect. I don't think anything is physically sticking, wondering where to look, thanks

Figured out the problem, and it had to do with the A/C system. The compressor clutch was getting signal to engage but was sticking so didn't engage. I'm thinking a signal is also sent to the computer to up the idle to compensate for compressor drag, but since the clutch didn't always engage the idle would skyrocket.
i cleaned up my compressor clucth so it engages when needed and so far the idle issues have went away.

this is a 2010 with the four banger

hope this helps somebody
