Icon5 Muffler Question?

Hi, I was thinking about changing mufflers soon and just wanted to see if anyone has any suggestions on what kind to get? I've got a Flowmaster 40 Series on my 05 ranger right now. I'd like to have a louder sound, but not like a real high pitched crappy sound like some of these hondas around here. Help much appreciated......

the flow40 is the loudest muffler you can get on a ranger, from all ive seen.. I too agree that i wis mine was much louder, but there is only so much a v6 (and even a 3.0 at that) can do. Intake and headers will make it a bit louder, but thats about all you can do minus dumping it.. but then you'll have in cab droning

I agree with the others. I have a Flowmaster 40 series on my 2.5. Sounds good and aggressive without being ricey. There's a line between loud while still sounding good and loud that sounds like crap. Either dual it out behind the muffler or dump it. About as good as your going to get without headers, intake etc... -Mike-

Everyone probably gets the delta flow 40 series. Getyourself the origonal flowmaster 40 series......nice and LOUD on a 400ci Chevy small block. I'm putting one on my ranger when I go with duals.

Do they make Headers or Intakes for 05 2.3Ls yet? Also, glass packs wouldn't be a good option with a Flow 40 right?

removing the cat(s) will make it both louder and deeper. Maybe instead of removing the cat(s) completely, just gut them out with a hammer and a piece of reebar or some other sort of a shaft device, then weld them back on. Run a pipe through it so you don't get a nasty hollow sound in the cab. Just my $.02 -Mike-

hey that sounds like a good idea, so i put a piece of pipe inside the cat (basically like my idea but hiding the pipe inside the cat) then weld it back up???
