problems starting up

I know this sounds like another post but those didn't cover what mine needs.
I have a 2002 ranger xl 2.3L, it was overheating so i took out the thermostat, but to get to it i had to take off the box for the air intake. now it wont start. it turns over but its not catching. I've checked the fuel lines everythings good there. I changed the plugs but still nothing. its not the fuses or the shutoff switch either. Any suggestions. thanx.

Make sure that there is no leak where you reinstalled the intake hose, especially underneath. It won't run if you have a big air leak downstream of the MAF sensor.

Check to be sure that the MAF and other connectors are plugged in. Pull the negative battery cable off for a minute to reset the PCM.

did that too. battery is brand new. I even tried push starting it (stick shift) the tires just locked up. I've checked every plugin and every hose.
