Quieter Exhaust

I searched and have found nothing on this subject. Is there any muffler that will make the exhaust quieter than stock? Or is stock about as quiet as I can possibly get it?

I had a thrush turbo muffler from summit on my truck for a short period of time and I couldnt tell my truck was running. No one heard me coming. Had it mainly for deer season last year.

So the Thrush turbo muffler is only really quiet at idle and cruse speeds? is it loud on acceleration?

I might have to check out that thrush turbo muffler. I want my truck to be as quiet as possible, so not being able to tell if the truck was running would be pretty nice.

It was a thrush turbo muffler with a 14'' long case with 2in inlet and 2in outlet with a turndown and you could hear the fan over the exhaust all the way to redline.

Well I might have to try that out. So did you have the stock exhaust running all the way to the muffler, then just had a turndown coming out of it after that? Or did you have an actual exhaust shop put in new pipes and everything?

I put it on by myself. I cut my stock muffler off then welded in on with the factory pipe and had just a 45 degree piece on the outlet tacked on. Had it held up by a coat hanger, man was I cheap back then.

Okay. I'll just have to look where the inlets/outlets are on the stock muffler so I know if I need to buy one with an offset or centered inlets/outlets.

I used the offset one. (I didnt look before ordering) and I had heck installin it due to it wanting to hit the driveshaft. Your exhaust should be routed the same way as mine was. Should being the key word. I cut it of right where it started to bend going into the muffler and left the pipe alone where it was straight, then just welded the new muffler on.

Was just going ask WTF the OP would want a quieter exhaust.......but for hunting, that makes perfect sense.

Or my reason...just tired of exhaust systems that can be heard a mile away. 2 loudest exhausts I've had were on a '64 Chevelle with a built 283 (actually a dirt track engine run on the streets) with headers & cherry bombs dumped before the axle. And the other was an '02 Kenne Bell SC'ed Mustang with lots of bolt-ons, O/R x-pipe and Borla Stinger cat-back exhaust.
