What damage did I do, forgot the special tool while busting crankshaft pulley bolt
What damage did I do, forgot the special tool while busting crankshaft pulley bolt
2003 Ford Ranger xlt 2.3 240k-ish
Was so fixated on new-to-me high torque impact wrench I forgot to place the special tool to prevent crankshaft from turning. I did have the alignment tool on the back of the camshafts. The manual screams about engine damage if you rely only on the alignment tool to prevent the crank from turning when you bust the bolt loose... and that's exactly what I did.
What damage did I do?
Maybes... bent valve stems, or destroyed diamond grit on the friction surfaces (crankshaft, sprocket, pulley). Anything else? Anything to check out before reassembly?
